Work Style + Dinner At Nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

Last week Tuesday, 2 of my colleagues and I went for dinner at Nkoyo in Ceddi plaza. Actually, we sat at Masala wahala which is their subsidiary serving south Indian dishes.

I have a long list of Abuja restaurants and cafes with beautiful and photo-friendly decor and ambience. The list keeps growing and I hope to visit all. Just watch out for the photos on the blog and do use the ‘Abuja’ tag which can be found below the post to view all Abuja-related posts. Dining Set up at Nkoyo Abuja

Tuesday was grand ward round (ward round with every Dr in the department) as usual in internal medicine department. This is the round most house officers dread if they’re in a terrible department. Some days go great while others head south real quick. It wasn’t an easy Tuesday for my colleagues and I. So, we needed to cool off after work.

Honestly, I needed somewhere with a very relaxed ambience lit enough for photos too. This was an opportunity to take photos for the blog. I’ve been trying to keep the blog going despite my crazy work schedule. Why waste a great outing when I can blog about it. Nkoyo was the first to come to my mind from the list. Abuja fashion blogger Onyinye of modavracha blog having dinner At Nkoyo Ceddi plaza

As I’m creating this post, I’m done with my 3rd posting, I’ll be starting my surgery (last) posting and most of my colleagues think my housejob life just got easier because they passed through the department. I truly hope so but if it ain’t so, I’ll scale through like the previous departments.

First of all, don’t look at these photos and think I actually wore these heels to work including the 5hrs+ rounds. I had to switch to them after work to complete my work style look for these photos. At work, we wear white coats over our outfits so you can’t blame me for my everyday black flat shoes, lol. Work style outfit on Abuja fashion blogger Onyinye of modavracha

This was my first time having dinner at Nkoyo in Ceddi plaza or any meal at all there. I’ve been to the one at Kcity plaza but not recently, I remember the decor wasn’t bad then (2010). The masala wahala is a pleasant addition even though I haven’t tasted anything from the menu.

Perhaps I should look for the food I enjoyed at my Indian restaurant visits in Kharkov on their menu and have another reason to return. This is because, while I took the photos at the masala wahala part, I ate from the Nkoyo menu.

We spent the afternoon doing ward rounds so, this meal was both lunch and dinner for most of us. Luckily, they didn’t take so much time to serve the meals. They quickly served us their complimentary bowl of chips while we were looking through the menu. Complimentary bowl of chips at Nkoyo Abuja Abuja lifestyle blogger Onyinye of modavracha blog having dinner At Nkoyo Ceddi plazaAbuja blogger Onyinye of modavracha blog having dinner At Nkoyo Ceddi plaza

I looked through the Nkoyo menu and eventually settled for the spicy grilled chicken which comes with either fried rice or jollof with fried plantain. When you’re not sure of what to eat at a new restaurant, just go for chicken. Blogger Modavracha at Nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

I’m very skeptical about eating soups outside the house because most of the times I have diarrhea afterwards. I was willing to try at least one of their traditional soups but remembered my lunch at home (which will still be waiting for me) was Eba and soup. So, I switched to my comfort zone in any new restaurant – meat. Spicy grilled chicken for dinner at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

There were about 3 different chicken menus and each comes with jollof or fried rice and plantain. We wanted to try both the jollof and fried rice with 2 different chicken options. So, we ordered 2 of the spicy grilled chicken with jollof and 1 of the half roasted chicken with fried rice. Chicken menu for dinner at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja Spicy grilled chicken at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja Chicken at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

I ordered the spicy grilled chicken but tasted the half roasted chicken from my colleague’s plate. John, my male colleague (who took my photos) finished the fried rice before i could taste it. I preferred the spicy grilled chicken to the half roasted chicken.Drinks at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

For the drinks, i ordered the bubble gum lemonade while Farida, my female colleague ordered chapman. I remember seeing the lemonade as a favorite of one of the Abuja bloggers I follow, can’t remember who but shout out to you, I liked it. Bubble gum lemonade at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja Chapman at nkoyo in Ceddi Plaza Abuja

Cost breakdown

Drinks – #650 each
Bottle of water (small) – #400

5% VAT – #497

Generally, I enjoyed my time there and I must commend their quick service time but the rice could be better in taste. I’ll definitely return to try the Indian cuisine and take more photos!

It’s amazing that these photos were taken at night but still look soo good. I love the ambience, this spot is on my list as I’ve read several reviews about them. You should try Metro or Kalakut Cafe next

I know right! Sometimes I’m amazed at the great shots my camera produces. Money well spent.

You’ll like nkoyo and masala wahala. I’ll be visiting their other subsidiary too. Metro and Kalakut are on my list and both aren’t far from me so I’ll definitely visit them soon.

Great review! Nyoko sounds like a marvelous place to have a delicious meal and relax. I am also glad you were able to do some R & R after a hard day of work. I used to work in laboratory so most of the time my clothes were covered by a lab coat and working with chemicals it was hard to wear nice clothes so I totally get you on the black flats and changing after work. I hope today was a better day for you. Happy Monday!

Thank you Maureen for visiting. I can relate on not wearing nice clothes to work. I have specific clothes I recycle to work every week. Lol
