Fashion Accessories – The Incredibly Easy Way That Works For Fashion Week

Going through the Lagos fashion and design week 2017 (lfdw) photos on Instagram, I saw lots of street style outfits that didn’t exactly standout because they were missing fashion accessories.

I also saw some outfits that stood out mostly because of the fashion accessories. Regular denim outfits that might not really get your attention on a normal day. It made me happy that people are embracing the effortless fashion week looks just by adding eye-catching fashion accessories.

One doesn’t actually need a lot of pieces in one outfit or designer items to stand out during fashion weeks. Especially in this Nigeria with hot weather where we can’t throw on the signature fashion week trench coats like our foreign counterparts. I believe one needs just 1 or 2 fashion items to show they know what they’re doing.

I’ve never attended any fashion week but I hope to attend someday especially the LFDW that is closer to home. Perhaps “I don’t understand the pressure to get noticed by streetstyle photographers or Bellanaija style” but I’ll definitely want to be comfortable in whatever outfit I’m wearing.

Recently, I found out that a lot of Nigerian brands lend their pieces to popular people, celebrities or bloggers to wear to red carpet events. I knew about this for foreign brands but not Nigerian brands. I’ve been living under the rock, i know!

So, which brand is interested in lending me clothes to wear for red carpet events? Shop Maju, Omilua (recently discovered) or perhaps StyleTemple (located 2 buildings away from where I live in maitama).

Afro/Big Hair: Big hair, don’t care! You can take the biggest Afro wig you can find if your hair isn’t full enough and wear it with any regular outfit and get noticed.

Statement Neckpiece: If you place a chunky statement neckpiece  over a casual plain tee, you’ve accentuated that tee. That might be all you need to get noticed by a street style photographer in love with details.
